Susan G. Komen Walk For Breast Cancer

This was the weekend of the Susan G. Komen 60 Mile Breast Cancer Walk. I only made 30 miles... Walking back and forth to tag back up with mom when I would out walk her took it's toll in one day... So I did my fundraising and I did walk... but I only made 1/2 the trip but I did it in just one (1) day...
It was a great experience!!! Not sure if I will 3-peat (repeat) it next year or not... I'm going to be getting married in May, and gaining a husband and a daughter... and no telling what condition I might be in by then...
But it was a great time!!! and to see 4000 walkers was wonderful!!!!!!!!!

I Am Engaged!!!!

The Proposal

August 14th 2008, Thursday

The day started off with our 2 mile walk and then with me cleaning out my old bedroom at my parents’ house with the help of Jaimi Hunt (friend). That morning I couldn’t explain it but I felt sick to my stomach with nerves… not sure why I was feeling so nervous… but all morning my nerves were getting to me as we were cleaning the house… until about 1 pm when it was time to pick up Rachel (sister-in-law) to go to lunch. We picked up Rachel and took the trash to Jaimi’s apartment because there were 5 bags of trash and it would have filled up my little dumpster… then we headed over to Chick-fil-a for lunch, but I just couldn’t eat… I did well to just get a small fruit bowl eaten and a sprite and I stole a few fry’s from Rachel’s plate… but I felt so nervous that the butterfly’s in my stomach were not flying in formation, they were more like a small hurricane starting in my stomach… I told Jaimi and Rachel that I felt that Todd was going to ask me to marry him tonight…

After we dropped Rachel off at her house Jaimi and I went back to my parents’ house to get more trash out before I had to leave for Saginaw, Texas, to meet up with Todd and Rebekah for dinner that night…

I got to his house before he got home from work so I let myself in and I just felt fidgety so I noticed that the dishes needed to be done so I did the dishes to keep myself busy and wiped down the counters… then made the beds… still felt fidgety… picked up the few toys Bekah had left out in the TV room… while I was in the TV room I saw Todd pull up and get out of his Jeep… with roses in his hand… 2 roses one tall one and one short one… (to represent him and Bekah) and Bekah got out with a little pink pig key chain for me to take with me on the Susan G. Komen walk in November… (as I saw him get out of the jeep upon seeing the roses I knew that he was going to ask me to marry him tonight)

As Todd come into the house he handed me the roses and gave me a kiss, and Bekah gave me the little pig… I went to help get Bekah changed for dinner while Todd went to the bathroom… After we got Bekah ready she suddenly didn’t want to go to dinner with us she wanted to go to the babysitter’s… So we stopped by the Play Time (day care/sitters by the hour) and dropped Bekah off and Todd and I went on to O I Shii Sushi Japanese Stake House for dinner where we had Hibachi dinner… started off with a mushroom and chicken soup followed by a small salad and then our Chef came out and did a WONDERFUL presentation!!! And prepared all our food… we had scallops and stake with shrimp and fried rice and eggplant mixed vegetables… it was all so good but I just couldn’t finish all of mine so we got a to-go box and took the leftovers home for Bekah to have later… after we got back to Todd’s house I went and put the box in the fridge in and sat down on the couch to wait for Todd while he went to the bathroom since it was almost time to go and pick up Bekah from Play Time…

As Todd walked out of the bedroom he had something closed in his hand… and he looked at me and his eyes ½ filled with tears, and I just knew that he was going to ask me!!! I had been sitting on the couch with me feet tucked up next to me and as I went to sit up he came around and took a knee right in front of me and took my right hand as he started to speak…
“I have to believe that our lives were meant to be together and that we found each other when we did for a reason… I can’t promise that our road with be easy, but I will promise you that our road will be easier together then it has been apart… I would like to ask you to become my life, my lover, and my friend for all eternity… Will you be my wife?” and he slipped off my CTR ring on my right hand and put the engagement ring in its place…

“Yes” was about all I could say as I saw the tears running down his face and I could feel them running down mine.

Then there was much hugging and kissing… and I moved the ring to my left hand and Todd looked down and said “hmm wrong hand…” and I told him “in Russia that would have been the right hand” we both laughed a little and then continued to cuddle on the couch before we had to go and get Bekah at 930.

After we picked up Bekah and got her home, we got her into bed and said her prayers… then Todd and I sat and talked some more.

And I asked him when did he decide to ask me tonight to marry him? Was it about 1 pm today? And he said “yes, how did you know?”… and I told him about my feeling of nervousness this morning, and it turns out that our spirits seem to be so in touch with each other that I could sense that something was causing him to be nervous today… and it seems to be just one more piece to the puzzle of our lives that we are meant to be together!

Our Wedding Date is set for May 23rd in the Dallas, Texas, Temple.

Baked Beans... Remember to do this to Jaimi

Baked Beans -

One day I met a sweet gentleman and fell in love.

When it became apparent that we would marry, I made the supreme sacrifice and Gave up beans.

Some months later, on my birthday, my car broke down on the way home from work. Since I lived in the countryside I called my husband and told him that I would be late because I had to walk home. On my way, I passed by a small diner and the odor of baked beans was more than I could stand. With miles to walk, I figured that I would walk off any ill effects by the time I reached home, so I stopped at the diner and before I knew it, I had consumed three large orders of baked beans. All the way home, I made sure that I released all the gas.

Upon my arrival, my husband seemed excited to see me and exclaimed Delightedly: "Darling I have a surprise for dinner tonight."

He then blindfolded me and led me to my chair at the dinner table. I took a seat and just as he was about to remove my blindfold, the telephone rang. He made me promise not to touch the blindfold until he returned and went to answer the call.

The baked beans I had consumed were still affecting me and the pressure was becoming most unbearable, so while my husband was out of the room I seized the opportunity, shifted my weight to one leg and let one go. It was not only loud, but it smelled like a fertilizer truck running over a skunk in front of a pulpwood mill.

I took my napkin from my lap and fanned the air around me vigorously Then, shifting to the other cheek, I ripped off three more. The stink was worse than cooked cabbage. Keeping my ears carefully tuned to the conversation in the other room, I went on like this for another few minutes. The pleasure was indescribable.

When eventually the telephone farewells signaled the end of my freedom, I quickly fanned the air a few more times with my napkin, placed it on my lap and folded my hands back on it feeling very relieved and pleased with myself.

My face must have been the picture of innocence when my husband returned, apologizing for taking so long. He asked me if I had peeked through the blindfold, and I assured him I had not. At this point, he removed the blindfold, and twelve dinner guests seated around the table chorused:

"Happy Birthday!"

I fainted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Christmas Letter 2006

Dear Family and Friends~ 2006

Just wanted to send all y’all a Christmas Greeting and let y’all know how I’m doing… Guess I should give y’all a basic rundown as to what has happened this year…
In February on the 27th I rescued a sweet little white puff ball that has now turned into a sweet and completely spoiled little puppy by the name of Serenity… She Graduated from k-9 University on the 14th of December and is now a much more behaved little girl…
Hero and Yui (my 2 kitties) are doing wonderful!!!! This summer they turned a year old and are still a handful!!! They had to live at the store/shop for awhile as my apartment complex was being a royal pain in the rear!!!!!!! I moved out of my apartment in February of this year due to some problems with management there… Mostly them changing my contract around, etc… But enough about that… on to happier things…
Serenity and I lived with mom and dad for a little while and John and Rachel for a little longer… until we moved into mom and dad’s old house in Firewheel while I was still looking for our new home… Happy to say that home was found just before Halloween after much searching!!!!!!!! (We were actually still working on moving in on that day!!!)
Hero, Yui, Serenity, and I all live in our new home and we are still working on the unpacking details… but the house is coming together nicely!!!
In July, I competed in a Taekwondo World Tournament in Las Vegas, NV… I placed 4th in the World for Patterns/Forms, but was to busy taking care of the injuries to compete in sparring myself…
In September, Serenity and I traveled with my Dad up to St. George, Utah to get Jaimi Hunt (one of my old college roommates) and bring her down to Texas… She is a Firefighter and an EMT-I looking to get on with one of the departments down here!!! Never have I seen someone study so much for a test!!! WOW!!!
Also in September we said good-by to a very dear and beloved friend… SAMUEL D. FOUGHT passed away on September 10th… many came to honor our friend… some came in garb (SCARBOROUGH FAIR FRIENDS)... many came in suits... but all loved this man and will miss him while he is away form us for a time… we shall see him again after the resurrection when our Lord and Savior returns to us… this time apart is just a brief moment without his friendship near… But we will be continued we again shall meet at Jesus’ feet, God be with you ‘til we meet again, my dear friend Sam. In November, we hosted our first Thanksgiving in my new house!!! My first turkey turned out GREAT!!!! (If, I do say so myself!!!) We had a wonderful time with the whole family!!! (Serenity even discovered what turkey was… I think she likes it a lot!!!)
And thus far in December has been a great month!!! We wish you all a wonderful day and a wonderful Holiday Season and a Merry Christmas!!!!

With much love and friendship,
Martha, Hero, Yui, and Serenity

Starting again

Howdy Everyone~

Sorry I haven't written in awhile... Things have just been very busy...
I'll try to update y'all in a blurp this morning...

I have 2 siemese cats that are just over a year old... 1 lab/Great Pyrenese puppy that will be 9 months old on the 27th of September... The cats are living at the store right now as I haven't closed on my house yet... I have been house hunting for awhile and I hope that I have found one that I should be closing on as soon as the paper work comes back from the VA... It is in Sachse... about .64 miles from John & Rachel and about 2.5 miles from my parents house...

I have a roommate right now... she is an old roommate from RICKS/BYU-I and she is a Firefighter/EMT... she wanted to get out of Utah so my dad and I went up to St. George to pick her up and bring her to Texas (the GREATEST STATE ON EARTH!!!!!!!)
She is planning on working for the Garland Fire Department, and will be taking her Civil Servants Test at the end of the month...

I'm not in classes right now... but I will be starting again as soon as I get settled into my house and de-junk my life a little bit... Think I am going to have to have a Garage Sale after I move into my house...

I will try to keep y'all updated better then I have been... I will start writing at least every Sunday evening...

Take care
